What to know
Disc herniations are described by location and size on imaging. Symptoms depend on nerve contact, not only the label on a report. Evaluation matches your history, exam, and studies to a conservative plan when appropriate.
When to book evaluation
- Pain or stiffness that limits work, sleep, or daily activity.
- Symptoms into the buttock or leg, or numbness.
- Episodes that do not improve with brief rest.
- Recent imaging you want reviewed in the visit.
Do not book here for loss of bladder or bowel control, numbness in the genital or anal area, leg weakness that is getting worse, or pain after a major injury. That is an emergency.
