Chiropractic rehabilitation

Dr. Cary H. Rothenberg, D.C., Chiropractor. Professional license 15265498.

Chiropractic rehabilitation combines chiropractic judgment with exercise and functional follow-up. It does not promise results from the first session, and it does not replace surgery when surgery is indicated. The evaluation determines whether an adjustment, decompression, physiotherapy, or a combination is appropriate.

How is it different from adjustments alone?

Chiropractic rehabilitation looks at function, not just an isolated complaint. It includes an exam, a visit plan, and work at home when appropriate. The order of techniques is set in consultation.

What should you bring to the evaluation?

Recent imaging studies, if you have them, and a list of your medications and previous treatments. If you have a fracture, an infection, recent surgery, or a pregnancy, let us know when you book.

Frequently asked questions

What is a chiropractic adjustment?

It is a manual technique in which the chiropractor applies a controlled movement to a joint of the spine or another area, aiming to improve its mobility and reduce discomfort. Sometimes you hear a pop: that is gas released inside the joint, not a bone "going back into place."

When should I see a chiropractor?

When you have back or neck pain, stiffness, pain that travels into a leg or arm, or headaches that seem to come from the neck and do not improve within a few days. The evaluation determines whether chiropractic care fits your case or whether another specialist is a better fit.

What is the difference between a chiropractor and a physical therapist?

Both work with the musculoskeletal system and with movement. A chiropractor focuses on the spine and joints and often uses manual techniques such as the adjustment; a physical therapist works mainly with therapeutic exercise, manual therapy and physical modalities to restore strength and function.

Chiropractor or physical therapist: how do I know which one to see?

It depends on what is causing the pain and on your goal, which is why an evaluation matters. In many cases the two approaches are combined: the adjustment for joint mobility and physical therapy to build strength and restore function.

What is chiropractic rehabilitation?

It is a plan that combines chiropractic judgment with therapeutic exercise, stretching and physical therapy techniques to restore movement and function after an injury, surgery or persistent pain. What it includes and how long it lasts are decided in the evaluation.
